Ninja ZX6R effect? It was not expected from Honda to start accepting bookings for CBR650R too soon

A few days back, we published a post stating that Honda has discontinued CBR650F and CBR650R might be on the cards for India. And now, as you have already read the title, Oh My Goodness, it’s hard to digest, 2 middleweight motorcycles in 2 months, have they gone crazy? Honda CBR650R is now up for pre-orders. You can book your CBR650R for an amount of Rs 15,000 only, this seems a less amount, Never Mind though.

2019 CBR650R is powered by a 649 cc in-line four-cylinder, fuel-injected engine which pumps out a peak power of 95 bhp @12,000 rpm and a peak Torque of 64 Nm @8,500 rpm. The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The bike features dual LED headlight setup and weighs 9 Kg less than outgoing CBR650F. This will result in a better power-to-weight ratio. New CBR has better aerodynamics as well, resulting in higher top speed and better fuel efficiency.

2019 Honda CBR650R has a larger instrument console display which will provide the rider with all the essential information. The steel diamond frame is now better in holding the bike together resulting in impressive handling on those curves. Twin 310 mm discs shine at the front wheel while a 240 mm disc perform the task at the rear wheel. A dual-channel ABS will prevent wheels from locking under hard braking.

One of the major changes is that the CBR650R is that it is equipped with Showa Upside Down (USD) front forks in comparison to the 650F’s conventional telescopic forks. The marginal increase in the overall length is seen due to longer swingarm whereas other values remain more or less similar to the CBR650F. The price is expected to rise by Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 for the 2019 CBR650R.

Ltd said, “Less than 2 weeks after the national launch of CB300R, Honda is proud to unleash its second global blockbuster in the middle-weight segment under the Silver Wing-mark umbrella. After the 2019 global fun model line-up unveils in EICMA, the company has now opened bookings for its new middle-weight sports machine Honda CBR650R in India too. With an aggressive Fireblade inspired bodywork, a strong dose of CBR sporting intent & intense power, Honda’s Make-in-India CBR650R will entice fun bikers of India like never before!”

Honda CBR650R will be available in two color options- Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Balck Metallic. The Sports-Tourer Motorcycle can be booked through any of the 22 Honda Wing World Dealerships across the Country.

Honda will launch the middleweight sports tourer in India in the month of March 2019. We expect the deliveries of Honda CBR650R to start from the Month of April or May 2019. The expected price of Honda CBR650R in India will be under Rs 8 Lakh ex-showroom.
