The iteration of Activa 125 is basically focused towards complete mechanical overhaul and the exterior gets only minor refreshing updates. The front fascia now gets premium chrome finish. LED DRLs are tweaked go give a better feel of presence. There is 3D ‘Activa 125’ logo embossed on both the side panels.

Powering the Activa 125 is the same 125cc engine which did the job in the BS4 version. This time, the engine employs Honda’s trademark PGM-FI fuel injection technology for crisper throttle response and precise fueling. The power has been dropped to 8.2bhp from 8.4bhp in the BS6 compliant engine. The torque, on the other hand, remains the same at 10.5Nm.

We expect that this will not affect the performance much as in this segment, torque is the deciding factor of the vehicle’s city performance. The Company claims that the fuel economy has been improved by about 13% in the company’s internal tests.

Featurewise speaking, the Activa 125 BS6 comes loaded with various segment-first bells and whistles. The semi-digital instrument cluster now has readouts for instantaneous and average fuel efficiency figures coupled with eco indicator. This will help a rider to ride at an optimum speed any day. Along with this new feature, there is side stand reminder with engine inhibitor means the engine will shut off if side stand remains engaged.

The new silent starting feature is made possible by using new-age ACG starter system. This system makes use of the generator which also charges the battery while running. Hence, no gear meshing required and it does not put a lot of load on the battery. This system is coupled with Honda’s eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology which is similar to Hero’s iSmart idle-stop system. This ensures that the engine is stopped on the signals and starts in few milliseconds with a slight twist of the throttle.
