Jawa Motorcycles stopped online bookings on 25th December 2018 due to an overwhelming response
I think I heared someone asking How many Jawa Bikes are Booked? We have an estimated answer here. Jawa Motorcycles, which are owned by Classic Legends launched Jawa 300 and Jawa Forty-Two motorcycles along with a single seat bobber Perak 330 on 15th November 2018. Enthusiastically, Jawa commenced online bookings of both Jawa 300 and Jawa Forty-Two for a refundable amount of Rs 5000 on their official website.
Little they had any idea about it, the company received a crazy number of bookings which they didn’t expect. Sweating, they closed the online booking channel on 25th December 2018. At that moment Classic Legends stated that they are all booked till September 2019. That’s whole 9 months waiting period for those who booked in the month of December 2018.
Coming to the year 2019, Jawa started opening dealerships across the country. They had planned for 105 dealers in 83 cities by March 2019. The company started taking bookings offline via dealerships with a refundable token amount of Rs 5000. The bookings for both classic retro bikes kept on increasing. And then came the news of newly booked Jawa bikes to deliver in the month of November 2019.
As Jawa increased their reach in the southern cities recently, they received even more bookings. Finally, the news is in the air about Jawa to close booking for the year 2019. Shocked! yeah, even we are shocked. No one expected that these classic bikes will get these many booking. But wait, how many Jawa bikes are actually booked? Let’s Calculate.
Jawa once confirmed that they are producing 200 bikes in a single shift of production in their factory in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The company is currently running one shift per day. So, we can calculate the number of bikes made in a month. Assume that Jawa started making bikes from January 2019 and they are booked till December 2019. That’s, 6000 X 12 = 72,000 bikes for 2019. That’s insane! 72,000 bikes will get sold in 9 months if we consider First Quarter of 2019 to be completely dry.
As a matter of fact, Classic Legends will sell around 8000 units per month in 2019. And this is after neglecting test bikes and display bikes 105 dealerships. If you go today and book a Jawa motorcycle, there is a 90% chance that your bike will be delivered next year, i.e, in 2020. This prediction is made after neglecting the possibilities of booking cancellations which are ought to happen once the deliveries start and first impressions flood the internet. Let’s Wait and Watch where the Fate of Jawa lies in India as they are nearing 105 dealers in India.
