Yamaha MT15 teased in an official video released by Yamaha India
Yamaha started the year 2019 with the launch of FZ-15 ABS, FZS-15 ABS as well as the ABS-equipped version of their 250 cc bikes, FZ25 and Fazer250. Now, this is the best time for Yamaha to launch a naked version of R15 V3 christened as MT15. Everyone is aware that Yamaha will launch this bike on 15th March 2019. So the company decided to release an official video teasing the beast, MT15. You can watch the video below.
The Indian version of MT15 will not feature those eyeballs attracting Golden USD Forks. Rather a conventional Telescopic Forks will be used. This is done to reduce the retail price of the bike as USD Forks are expensive. The fuel tank is also not similar to the international version. The bike is spied in Matt Blue and Black color. All color options will be revealed on the launch date though.

Why Now?
Do you know why Yamaha is launching this bike in India now? I’ll tell you. The culprit is the mandatory ABS norms which will come into effect from next month i.e, 1st April 2019. Due to the inclusion of ABS in bike above 125 cc, a gap has emerged. The FZS-15 V3 ABS is priced at Rs 97,000 whereas the next bike, FZ25 carries a price tag of Rs 1.33 Lakh. This huge difference of Rs 36,000 leaves customers to look somewhere else.

The Price
Yamaha will fill the gap with the launch of MT15. It is well speculated that MT15 will be priced around Rs 1.2 Lakh and thus this bike will cost Rs 23,000 more than the FZS-15 V3 ABS. In my opinion, MT15 will attract a lot of customers as well as motorcycle enthusiasts. Even a colleague of mine is waiting for Yamaha MT15. I can also plan to think about this bike. But wait, No, I’ll tell that later, let this bike launch.
