Roy Kurian started his career at Yamaha India as a marketing manager in 2003 and worked for 15 long years

Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, India Yamaha Motors resigned on Wednesday, 30th January 2019.

With the last day of January 2019 being his last working day, Yamaha India did not got any replacement for him. Ravinder Singh, Sr. Vice President, Strategy & Planning, will be taking the charge for the interim period.

Roy Kurian joined Yamaha India in 2003 as a marketing manager for South India. He performance got him the promotion to become Zonal Business Head- South in January 2007. Mr. Kurian then later became Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing in January 2011.

Commenting on his resignation Kurian said, “I think 15 years is a good enough period in a company. I contributed to the company in whatever way possible. It is now time to take new challenges. The target of achieving one million sales in the domestic market, however, remains unrealized.”

He further added, “I never thought I would ever leave such a great company, but I have decided to move on and take my career in a new direction.”

Under his leadership, the FZ maker doubled the domestic sales from 3,55,493 units in FY2012 to 7,92,802 units in FY2018. he is also responsible for the growth of scooter and performance segment of Yamaha India.

Mr. Kurian, however, declined to speak anything about the next step in his career. We wish him good luck in his future assignments.

Before Yamaha India, Kurian has worked with Funskool and Godrej. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from Safia College, Bhopal.
