Yamaha R15 V3 has won the prestigious award for the second time
The track bike of the masses, the meanest machine to ply on the Indian roads, the mighty Yamaha R15 V3 has won the prestigious India Design Mark. The award is given by the Indian Design Council. Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 is given the recognition which is a perfect blend of Design, engineering, and performance.
Since the year 2012, the Japanese company’s product design philosophies has received true testimony. India Design Mark received by Yamaha’s are – Yamaha R15 (2012), Cygnus Ray (2013), Cygnus ray Z (2014), Cygnus Alpha & FZ series (2015), Yamaha Fascino and Saluto 125 (2016), Cygnus Ray ZR (2017), and YZF R3 (2018). And this year, Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 has won it.

Indian Design Council is an autonomous Government body which has been established under the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry. This body was initiated by India Design Mark in cooperation with Japan Institute of Design Promotion. Indian Design Council is thus a national design strategic body which looks for multi-disciplinary designs and is also involved in the design promotions. This move will ultimately make India a design enabled country.
Yamaha R15 V3 is the best affordable track bike in India
The Japanese giant launched the R15 Version 3.0 in the Indian market in 2018. And since then, the mini track machine is selling like hot cakes. This is a perfect motorcycle for those who eat, sleep, talk and dream of MotoGP all the time. Powering the mean machine is liquid cooled, 150cc, single cylinder engine. It produces 19 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm torque at 8000 rpm. A new tech called Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) is used with a 4-valve head which enables the engine to produce such an insane amount of power from a puny displaced engine.
The powerplant is mated to a sleek shiting 6-speed gearbox. Speaking about the performance of the bike, it reaches 100 kmph from zero in 12 seconds and tops out at 145 kmph speedo-indicated. R15 version 3.0 gets a fully digital instrument cluster with a boatload of information including gear position indicator and fuel efficiency readout. The bike gets full LED lighting everywhere.

A specifically engineered Deltabox frame holds everything together. Everything is suspended on front telescopic forks and rear linked type monoshock. The bike rides on 100/80 and 140/70 section tyres at front and rear. The brakes are disc on both ends with a dual-channel ABS. 2019 Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 is priced at Rs 1.39 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
