Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF will have a 4-valve oil-cooled engine which will pump out 26.3 bhp

The brochure of Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF has been leaked and all the specifications are now out. Suzuki will launch the new Gixxer 250 SF on 20th May along with updated Gixxer 155 SF motorcycle. THe quarter liter bike will rival against Yamaha Fazer 25 on the lower end and Honda CBR 250R on the upper end.

Speaking about the styling, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF will be a fully faired motorcycle with sporty styling. The clip-on handlebars are placed high enough for comfortable highway touring. There are split seats on both 155 and 250 Gixxer SF. The Gixxer 155 SF will carry similar design language to that of 250cc bike. There is a new color scheme on the 155cc Gixxer which will also launch on the same date.

Powering the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF is a fuel injected 249cc single cylinder, Air & Oil-cooled motor with a 4-valve SOHC valvetrain. The powerplant is tuned to produce 26.1 bhp (26.5 ps) at 9000 rpm and peak torque at 7500 rpm. Power figures such as these are potent enough to give Honda CBR 250R a run for its money.

The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox instead of what we thought of a 5-speed unit like that of Fazer 25. The capable Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF has a seat height of 800 mm with a respectable ground clearance of 165 mm. According to the leaked brochure, the bike tips the scale at 161 kg which is 6 kg lighter than CBR 250R ABS.

The upcoming Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF has telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear end. The braking performance comes from a twin disc setup of unknown diameter. ABS will come as a mandatory safety feature but it is not yet known whether it will be a single-channel or dual-channel unit.

The instrument cluster is expected to be a fully digital unit like we have seen in 155cc Gixxer SF, but with more features. We expect that the headlights of the new quarter-liter motorcycle will be full LED unit. It is an important point to note that the bike comes fitted with 110/70R-17 and 150/60R-17 radial tyres. So one could easily expect good performance from the bike.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF feels to be a potent motorcycle. The only eyesore is missing the liquid-cooled engine. Else, the power output and engine operating temperature range would have been better. Gixxer 250 SF will now battle with both Yamaha Fazer 250 as well as Honda CBR 250R in this segment. You can even take the fight to KTM RC 200 or Duke 250 considering the power output and expected performance numbers.

The pricing of Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF once it is launched in India on 20th May 2019. Let me be clear here if it is launched at a price point of Rs 1.6 lakh ex-showroom, only then this can fight overpriced CBR 250R. Otherwise, the Honda CBR 250R is a potent sports tourer. Honda CBR 250R also has a long list of various international aftermarket performance parts available.

See, there are a lot of things to look at, but you are one hell of a person when your eyes are pulled towards beauty on two wheels. This guy here is one such animal who loves two wheels more than "Maa ke hath ka Khana." Not yet fully transformed into a seasoned rider but still, there are many things still "under construction."
