Ducati Scrambler 800 range of naked motorcycles launched in India, Land of Joy revamped for 2019

The Indian arm of Italian luxury motorcycle manufacturer launched a total of four Ducati Scrambler 800 bikes in India with a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh ex-showroom. New Scrambler 800 range include Icon, Ful Throttle, Cafe Racer, and Desert Sled which are priced at Rs 7.89 lakh, Rs 8.92 lakh, Rs 9.78 lakh, and Rs 9.93 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom pan India.

2019 version of Scrambler 800 bikes is better equipped, more comfortable and also safer to ride. That said, the latest ‘Joyvolution’ incarnation retains the pure essence of motorcycling: two wheels, a wide handlebar, a simple yet powerful engine and a ton of fun.

The new range of Ducati Scrambler 800 is powered by an air-cooled, 803cc L-twin, desmodromic distribution engine. The engine head in an old school 2-valve unit. This powerplant churns out 73 bhp at 8,250 rpm and 67 Nm torque at 5,750 rpm. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which propels 189 kg (wet weight, Icon) motorcycle with ease.

Sergi Canovas, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “The Scrambler range is one of the most loved and highest selling Ducati family in the country. Scramblers have always been the quintessential bike when it comes to accessible power and supreme control on any kind of roads and this year, we have made the entire range more advanced and capable.”

He further said, “The new line up is a cultural movement in itself standing for a free-spirited attitude. The Ducati Scrambler isn’t just a bike: it’s a whole new lifestyle, shaped by dedicated apparel and accessories. This is our first product launch of the year and we are thrilled to introduce the all-new Scrambler range in India.”

The bikes get improvements in the instrument console and additional features like a fuel gauge and gear position indicator. More premium switchgear and adjustable levers are also added to the feature list. Ducati Multimedia system, which is Bluetooth connectivity in layman’s terms, can be purchased as an additional accessory. This system will display calls, messages as well as music information on the digital screen.

2019 Ducati Scrambler 800 bikes get cornering ABS. As normal ABS works best when the bike is ridden upright whereas Cornering ABS avoids wheel slips while at lean. And it is quite important for off-road centric scrambler range of motorcycles. Right now, Scrambler becomes the most affordable bikes to feature this technology.

There is a flatter seat on the Icon which makes it more comfortable for both rider and pillion. Icon also received 10-spoke alloy wheels which are similar to Icon 1100.

Scrambler Icon is Rs 61,000 more expensive than the older model. Full Throttle, on the other hand, received the least hike at Rs 39,000. Speaking about Cafe Racer and Desert Sled, the price hike stands at Rs 56,000 and Rs 41,000 respectively.

The deliveries of Icon, Cafe Racer, and Desert Sled will begin in few days while Full Throttle will only be delivered in June 2019.

There is a rival to Ducati Scrambler 800 range and it is Triumph Street Scrambler which carries a price tag of Rs 8.55 lakh ex-showroom.
