Royal Enfield Continental 650 custom Vayu gets mechanical changes too
Have a look at this beast of a motorcycle. The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Custom by K-Speed Customs. Speaking about the custom motorcycles, there were many at the Royal Enfield stall at the Bankok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2019. This Continental GT 650 Custom is christened as the ‘Vayu’ which means ‘Wind’ in Hindi.
This custom bike gets a bikini fairing at the front to deflect as much air as possible by giving a streamlined design in the front end. New body panels and larger tyres make the cafe racer look muscular. The headlight is round in shape which refreshes the retro look. The stock clip-on handlebars are replaced with new actual clip-on bars (as these are clipped to the front telescopic forks). This ensures that bike is a proper cafe racer and not for long distance touring.

The switchgear is old school and fuel tank remains stock with a new greyish bluish (something like that) color. The fuel filler cap gets chrome treatment and the saddle has paved way for a custom piece. The seat is a single piece and there is a cowl in place of pillion seat (you’ll not race with a pillion. Will you?). The rear section is smaller than the stock version and features a round tail light. If you notice, the rear blinkers are bolted on the rear suspension. The absence of rear fender gives Vayu a tidy look.

There is a K-Speed Custom’s logo on side panels (the guys who did it). The bike gets explosive Diablo aftermarket exhausts. Now let’s talk about the mechanicals. As you all know, a 648cc twin cylinder engine powers the stock Continental GT 650 motorcycle. Fuel injected, Air & Oil cooled motor pumps out 47 bhp at 7000 rpm and 52 Nm twisting force at 4250 rpm. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the stock bike tops out at 160 kmph. The Vayu, which is more aerodynamic with free flow aftermarket exhaust can deliver better performance than the stock bike.

To handle added performance, there is a pair of Brembo calipers on duty to stop this beast of a bike. The stock bike gets Bybre calipers which work fine and comes at a cheaper price. Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 custom is here to showcase the company’s prowess in the field of retro and custom motorcycles.
