KTM 790 Adventure is about to launch in the international markets, the company is busy testing 390 Adventure in India
The Austrian company is planning to launch KTM 790 Adventure motorcycle in the Indian market later this year. A rise in the demand for adventure motorcycles in India has forced the manufacturers to shift their focus on the adventure bikes. In the first three months of 2019 itself, half a dozen Adventure bikes have already launched. The price range of these bikes is from Rs 5 lakh (Benelli TRK 502) to around Rs 20 lakh (BMW R 1250 GS).
KTM Adventure 790 will be a feature packed and capable adventure motorcycle. Powering the bike is a parallel twin 799cc, liquid-cooled engine. The powerplant churns out 95 bhp at 8000 rpm and healthy 88 Nm torque at 6600 rpm. The rev range is lower when compared to other KTM bikes. This is done to get as much torque lower down in the rev range as possible. A 6-speed gearbox does reduction duties via slipper clutch.

Trellis frame is something which holds everything on KTM 790 Adventure. Wheels are spoked with aluminum rims. The front wheel size is 21-inch and the rear one is 18-inch and the bike rides on 90/90-21 section tyre and a 150/80-18 section at the front and rear respectively. A 43 mm WP USD fork at the front and WP monoshock at the rear do the suspension work on the Standard variant of the KTM 790 Adventure. The R variant features 48 mm USD fork and WP PDS shock absorber at the rear. Standard model gets 200 mm suspension travel at both ends whereas the R model even longer 240 mm travel.
braking duties are performed by twin 320 mm disc rotors with 4 piston radially mounted calipers at the front end. The rear has 260 mm disc rotor with 2-piston floating caliper. A Dual-Channel ABS can be turned off and also features cornering ABS. A 20-liter fuel tank ensures 450 km range and the ADV tips the scale at 189 kg (dry weight).

Ground Clearance stands at 233 mm in Standard model and 263 mm in the R model. If we talk about the seat of the bikes, they are on a slightly higher side. The Standard model has an option for 830 and 850 mm seat height whereas the R model has 880 mm seat height.
Speaking about the price, the 790 Adventure will be priced around Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh ex-showroom. Wait, we can guess the price of KTM 790 Adventure once the Duke 790 is launched in India. Duke 790 is speculated to carry a price tag of Rs 7 lakh ex-showroom. In the US market, Standard model of KTM 790 Adventure is priced at $ 12,500 and $ 13500 for the R model.
If launched at a price tag of Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, the KTM 790 Adventure will rival the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs 6.69 lakh), Suzuki V-Strom 650XT (Rs 7.46 lakh), Kawasaki Versys 1000 (Rs 10.69 lakh), Ducati Hypermotard 939 (Rs 11.17 lakh), BMW F750 GS (Rs 12.55 lakh), Triumph Tiger 800 range of Adventure motorcycles (Rs 12 lakh to Rs 15.16 lakh), Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Rs 13.45 lakh). All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom, Delhi. All we have to now is to wait till the festive season for the bike to launch in the country. Hold on! Let them bring 390 Aventure first.
