Pulsar NS 160 ABS is just Rs 1,680 cheaper than Pulsar 180F ABS

Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 price at launch to be Rs 92,595 ex-showroom. NS 160 gets a single channel ABS for a premium of Rs 6,656. Pulsar 180F ABS is priced Rs 7800 more for the single-channel unit. On the other hand, Pulsar NS 200’s single-channel ABS demands a premium of Rs 12,000. I have no idea why the price of ABS differ so much.

April 1st, 2019 marked date of enforcement of Safety norms for two-wheelers. According to the new government safety rules, all two-wheelers under 125cc must come equipped with Combined Braking System (CBS) and all two-wheelers above 125cc engine capacity must have Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) as standard.

Nearly all two-wheeler manufacturer in India switched to ABS and CBS systems in their two-wheelers according to the engine capacity. Bajaj also updated its bikes with CBS and ABS. Now Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 price is out which is Rs 92,595. The increment in price is Rs 6,656 which is normal for a single-channel ABS.

With the new pricing released, Pulsar NS 160 ABS is now priced Rs 1,680 less than the Pulsar 180F ABS. 180F ABS carries a price tag of Rs 94,278 ex-showroom. Thus, new Pulsar NS 160 sits below its 180cc sibling.

Powering the Pulsar NS 160, is a 160cc engine which makes 15.5 bhp and 14.6 Nm torque. The bike is powerful enough for everyday commuting and weekend getaways. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox like its elder cousin NS 200.

2018 Bajaj Pulsar NS160

One can easily choose the Pulsar NS 160 over Pulsar 180F because the former has 14.6 Nm torque which makes it quick of the line. Pulsar 180F is a higher top speed due to the availability of more power.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 tips the scale at 142 kg for non-ABS version, whereas ABS equipped bike will weight 1-2 kilos more for the added components. Let’s see how this bike rivals its own sibling and also other bikes from the segment.
