Triumph to launch its fifth motorcycle of the year on 23rd May 2019 which is a 1200cc twin Scrambler 1200 XC
It was just a few days back Triumph launched Speed Twin 1200 roadster in India. Now the British company has announced that they will launch another motorcycle, this time an off-roader, Scrambler 1200 XC on 23rd May 2019. This will be the fifth bike from Triumph to launch in India this year. The company has launched the Street Twin, Street Scrambler, Tiger 800 XCA, and Speed Twin 1200 before this one.
In the global markets, there are two variants of Scrambler 1200 – XC and XE. Here the XC variant is the base model whereas the XE is more off-road focused variant. Instead, of going to the extreme, Triumph decided to launch into Scrambler XC in India. You can expect a price of Rs 10.5 to Rs 11 lakh ex-showroom.
Powering the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC is the same engine which does duty on recently launched Speed twin 1200. The 1200cc parallel twin, 8-valve, liquid-cooled engine offers 90 bhp at 7400 rpm and 110 Nm at 3950 rpm. The numbers are a bit lower than those of Thruxton and Speed Twin due to a different state of tune. A 6-speed gearbox transfer power via a Slip and Assist clutch.
Speaking about the major components, the Scrambler 1200 XC gets 21-inch spoked wheel at the front end with dual-purpose Metzeler Tourance tyre. The rear wheel, on the other hand, is also spoked one but 17-inch in diameter wrapped with the same tyre as the front. To keep things interesting, both spoked wheels are sealed and support tubeless tyres.
Braking duties are taken care of by twin 320 mm discs with Brembo M50 monoblock 4-piston caliper at the front end while the rear one does the job with single 255 mm disc and twin-piston caliper. The suspension up front is 45 mm Showa USD forks and twin Ohlins shocks at the rear. With a travel of 200 mm on both ends, proving that suspension are ready for serious off-roading.
There is a new TFT display which also has an inbuilt GoPro control system. There is an option for turn-by-turn GPS navigation if you choose the optional Bluetooth connectivity module. The Bluetooth module will also help you connect your smartphone to access features like messages and music. Heated grips are also available as an official accessory, a USB port for mobile charging.
Speaking about the rider aids, Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC offers a long list of electronic wizardry. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Dual-Channel ABS, switchable traction control are some to mention. There are different riding modes on offer such as Rain, Road, Off-road, Sport, and Rider. The headlight, tail light as well as blinkers, all are powered by LED.
The expected price for the Scrambler 1200 XC is around Rs 11 lakh ex-showroom. Here it will rival with Ducati Scrambler 1100 which is priced at Rs 11.42 lakh ex-showroom. The motorcycle will also face some heat from its elder sibling Tiger 800 XCR and XCX which are priced from Rs 11 lakh to 14 lakh ex-showroom.
