BMW G310 R and G310 GS are now available in new color options. The G310 R gets  Cosmic Black color while the G310 GS gets Strato Blue Metallic. Both the colors come as a refresher for the year 2019. However, there are no other changes made to the motorcycles.

The two entry level BMW bikes are made for the western market where they are selling well. Whereas in India the G310 R and G310 GS are positioned as premium products and are priced significantly higher than the competition. These bikes are only for the affluents who just want to have a BMW branded motorcycle in their home.

This part of the story is clearly seen in the sales of the bikes as zero units were sold in April and May 2019. In fact, all the bikes made by TVS were exported into the Europian and the US markets. The pricing is Rs 2.99 lakh for G310 R and Rs 3.49 lakh for the adventure tourer G310 GS. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi. For the new color options, the price remains the same as before.

What BMW could have done is the addition of LED headlight and tail lights to slightly increase its value for money proposition but the company chose other way around. If BMW is interested in sales of these bikes in India, they have to reduce the price by atleast Rs 50,000. This will expose the bikes to even more customers who are picking up the likes of KTM and Royal Enfield.

If we talk about the segment, it is clearly ruled over by the Royal Enfield 650 twins pricing of which starts from Rs 2.5 lakh ex-showroom. Even Duke 390 is consistent with its monthly sales number. At present, the two-wheeler market is pretty down due to even increasing pricing of bikes, taxes, interest, and petrol.
