BMW has a strong brand presence in India and with brand conscious customers, sales are strong past 2400 units

BMW’s two-wheeler arm, BMW Motorrad India has delivered a total of 2403 motorcycles in the calendar year 2019. This amounts to a 10% sales growth in 2019 when compared to the year 2018. This comes when rest of the two-wheeler industry in India is struggling to even post neutral sales growth. Other manufacturers like Hero, Honda, TVS, and Bajaj are not able to match their sales number from the previous year ie 2018.

THe company says that BMW has redefined the premium motorcycle segment in the Indian market with its dynamic range of bike in different segments. 2019 has been a very good year for the German motorcycle manufacturer despite the economic downturn of the two-wheeler industry and the country as a whole. President and CEO of BMW Motorrad India, Rudratej Singh comments that the company’s unique brand strength has something for nearly every customer that enters the BMW showroom.

The company caters to the motorcycle purists as well as fulfilling aspirations of a new base of brand fans who are eager to experience the world of Motorrad. For this, the company has its proud motto, ‘Make Ride a Life’.

For the Indian market, BMW Motorrad’s portfolio starts from G310R naked bike and G310GS adventure tourer. Both these single-cylinder bikes are priced at Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh ex-showroom respectively. Although the bikes are overpriced for what they offer, they still have that BMW badge which kind off covers for the high asking price. These little beemers churned out 85% sales for the company in the calendar year 2019.

Higher up the range, BMW R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, BMW F 750 GS, 850 GS as well as S 1000RR has also contributed to the overall sales. To keep the momentum going, BMW kept on launching new products which help them keeping the brand in the headlines. These launches included all-new BMW S 1000RR, BMW R 1250 R, BMW 1250RT, and all-new BMW F 850 GS adventure. All these motorcycles are performance-packed, best-in-class riding dynamics, and deliver what is already promised along with the possession of features that gleams in the eys of the owner.

An impressive part of the yearly sales is that about 25% or 600 units of BMW G 310R and G 310GS were sold in the month of October 2019 alone. Rest of the 75% sales came from the remaining 11 months. This was not a surprise a BMW Financial services were providing these bikes without any downpayment along with low-interest loans. Not only this, the financial solutions were customised according to the customer’s requirements which turned out to be significantly valuable for the premium clientele of BMW Motorrad. These were the reasons which facilitated the impressive sales performance of the German brand in India.
