Benelli is readying the launch of Imperiale 400 classic in India, will rival Classic 350 and Jawa 300
Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Benelli is now ready with its next launch in the country. Benelli Imperiale 400 will be made available in October 2019 before Diwali to ouch some sales. Imperiale 400 first appeared in EICMA 2017 and now the company will launch the classic bike in collaboration with Adishwar Auto Ride, their new Indian partner.
This year, Benelli has already launched the TRK 502 and TRK 502X ADVs and Leoncino 500 scrambler in the country. The company claimed that its ADS were well received in India with more than 150 units sold. However, there are no official numbers on the Leoncino 500 but we expect the bike to cross at least 100 units sales by the end of the festive season.

The Imperiale 400 will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa 300 if priced well under Rs 2 lakh. Otherwise, the competition will be changed to Bullet and Classic 500 from the Chennai based manufacturer. Company has said that they are sourcing some parts from the local vendors to keep the price in check. Basic equipment like the electrical unit, tyres, cables, instrument cluster etc will be sourced from India itself. These things will help in keeping the cost of consumables lower than the import parts.
Powering the Imperiale 400 is a 373cc air-cooled engine with a 2-valve head. This engine makes 20bhp at 5500rpm and 28Nm torque at 3500rpm. These figures are similar to that of Classic 350 which starts from Rs 1.45 lakh ex-showroom for base ‘S’ variant.
At present, Benelli has around 21 dealers across the country and it is the biggest hurdle in the path of Benelli to post better sales numbers.
