Revolt RV 400 is the first electric motorcycle to launch in India

Revolt motors have launched two electric bikes in the Indian market – RV 400 and RV 300. The RV 400 is the flagship product of the company as of now and it comes in two variants. On the other hand, RV 300 is focused more on the city commuting as it gets low power motor and a smaller battery. This article will explain to you everything about the flagship e-bike.

The top-spec RV 400 comes with a large 3.24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which can give you a range of about 150 km. The electric motor used in the bike has a continuous power output of 3 kW (4bhp). However, the motor is capable of delivery and is capable of delivering a short-time peak power of 5 kW. This 6.7bhp power boost will aid in the instant acceleration of the bike.

The electric bike has its electric motor planted on the frame itself. There is a high reduction belt drive unit which transfers power to the rear wheel. Not only that there is regenerative braking which will help in recovering some energy to increase range in the city limits.

Revolt RV 400 dimensions

The basic dimensions of the bike are not yet available, However, the wheelbase stands at 1350 mm. The kerb weight of RV 400 is just 108 kg which makes it lie in the category of 100-110cc bikes. The ground clearance of quite high at 215 mm just 5 mm less than that of Royal Enfield Himalayan 400. The higher stance of the bike makes its seat height to stand at 814 mm which might discourage some of the short riders.

The range of Revolt RV 400, as tested by the ARAI, is claimed to be 156 km in a single charge. Pune based Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI), have tested the range of Revolt RV 400 at a maximum speed of 65 kmph. One can argue that the real-world range of the RV 400 can be anywhere between 100 to 120 km per charge.

Battery Charging and Swapping

The 3.24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack can be charged from the supplied 15A charger which is sold with the bike. When put in a 15A home socket, the battery will take about 4 hours to charge 100%. However, a public fast charger will charge the bike in about 90 minutes.

There is an option to order a fully charged battery pack via the Revolt app. Also, the company is working on to install battery stations in the metro cities where one can replace their battery with a fully charged one for a small fee.

AI and connected features

Revolt RV 400 is not just a regular electric motorcycle. There is an option for a connected helmet which is also voice-activated. The company has collaborated with Google to provide the voice-activated features on the bike. A fully digital instrument cluster provides a plethora of information including onboard diagnostics.

The Revolt smartphone app will let you do a lot of things like enable and disable geofencing, check the remaining distance bike can go in different riding modes. One can see the places where public charging stations are available near you. Like I said above you can also order a fully charged battery to your home or office or any other place you are stuck (just like food delivery).

The app will also allow you to change the sound of your bike (for premium variant) as well as start your bike beforehand.

Introductory offers

There are two models of the RV 400 – Base and Premium and are priced at a monthly plan of Rs 3,499/month and Rs 3,999/month for 37 months respectively. The company is giving free insurance, 3 year/30,000km maintenance benefit for the initial bikes.

Speaking about the warranty the bike gets 5 year/75,000km warranty and battery pack is protected by near-unlimited 8 year/1,50,000 km. This means your bike is safe and you can opt for one.
