In the on-going CES 2019 Harley Davidson LiveWire Electric Motorcycle is up for pre-orders.

As you all know, CES 2019 is live in Las Vegas, and its Harley Davidson currently in headlines. Years after showcasing their Electric Motorcycle “project LiveWire”, Harley Davidson LiveWire is now up for pre-orders.

Considering LiveWire is their first production electric motorcycle, they are betting big on it. Not to mention that it will go into production somewhere around August 2019.

But wait, what’s the price? LiveWire like other Harley Davidson motorcycles commands a premium price and at $29,799 is not cheap by any means. When converted into Indian Rupees, price is little shy of Rs 21 Lakh. So, if you are planning to buy one, you need to bet big too — in Vegas, ahem ahem, no offence.

There is not a single word of LiveWire coming in India. Even if it comes, it will be a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and will attract 110% custom duty. In that case LiveWire will cost you about Rs 45 Lakh on-road.

What does it offer?

Its great Harley Davidson has put LiveWire on pre-order, but what you, if you happened to pre-order it, will get for your hard earned money?

First of all, it has a 55 kW (74 bhp) oil cooled, three phase induction motor which is mounted longitudinally. A pair of bevel gears are used to transfer power transversely followed by a belt drive. This Bevel Gear setup gives LiveWire its Jet Engine like sound. Battery pack capacity is unofficially around 7 kWh.

On the positive side, LiveWire has an insane acceleration, clocking 0 to 100 kmph in under 3.5 seconds. But range of just 180 Km and electronically limited top speed of 150 kmph is what you wouldn’t like for a bike of this price. Considering that fact that 180 Km is Urban range. The range you’ll get on highway will be much less as highway speeds are greater than city speeds.

It is expected Electronic wizardry like ABS and Traction Control will be present on this bike. Smartphone connectivity is obvious as even Electric Scooters like Ather 340 and Ather 450 provide it. Front and rear rim is 18 and 17 inches respectively. Dry weight of 210 kg makes LiveWire pretty light for Harley Davidson standards.
