Aprilia showcased RS 150 and Tuono 150 in Auto-Expo 2018. Now what we came to know is disturbing as Hell

In the year 2018, during ongoing Auto-Expo, Aprilia dropped a surprise for the Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. The surprise package was non-other than the RS 150, a baby version of mighty RS4. Enthusiasts went gaga over the design of the bikes. Since then, everyone is waiting for Aprilia to launch this R15 V3 rival. But earlier Aprilia released a statement saying that RS 150 will launch in India only after implementation of BS-VI emission norms.

Please feast your eyes on these images of RS 150 which was showcased in Auto-Expo 2018.

This is a pure and unaltered design of RS4. Also, notice the fuel tank and fairing design.

Changes are made a bid to keep cost down

This is Aprilia GPR 150 which is sold in China. You can even spot the GPR branding on the upper fairing. The shape of fairing and fuel tank is different than what was showcased in Auto-Expo 2018.

Oh my God, the front end looks so bland. The OWL-ISH headlights will give you nightmares. I hope Aprilia get some sense by next year and change this front design back to the original one.

From the side, the bike doesn’t look bad at all. But one cannot deny the fact that Aprilia showcased us Almonds and now, gearing up to sell Peanuts. Maybe all these changes are made to keep the cost under control. But still, the design must not be mingled with, even for cost-cutting. This is not cleared yet whether Aprilia will manufacture RS 150 in India or will import as CKD from China.

Aprilia RS 150 is powered by a 150 cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine churning out 18 bhp @10,000 rpm and 14 Nm @7,500 rpm coupled to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.

The baby RS4 will come in with dual-channel ABS with 300mm front and 208mm rear disc brake. USD forks will be offered as standard. This will make Aprilia RS 150 first 150cc segment motorcycle in India to offer USD (only if MT-15 is not launched with USD forks). The launch price is expected to be in the range of Rs 1.5 to 1.6 lakhs.
