Royal Enfield arrived to India in 1955 with their 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet. 800 bullets were ordered by Indian Goverment for its police and army. Royal Enfield is now in a mood to switch from the cruiser to adventure bikes. The Himalayan will be the first full fledged adventure motorbike in this segment in India and is supposed to be one of the most curious product for Royal Enfield riders.
Himalayas is a roller coaster ride of high altitude passes, wash-outs, creek-crossings, landslides, glacial melts and broken bridges and Royal Enfield Himalayan will be one motorcycle which will give you the best experience in those uncharted terrains.
For the first time in Royal Enfield’s history- they introduced a motorbike with mono-shock rear suspension just to give more comfort for both pillion and the rider. With a truth that many of the interim parts are taken from the spares rack of Continental GT. From headlamp to tail lamp, front fork, front mud guard, front disc brake and even the frame resembles the figure of GT with a little touch of vintage class.
Coming towards mechanical specs, The Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder, SOHC air-cooled motor that outputs 24.5 BHP of power and 32 Nm of torque. The fuel is fed via a carburetor while the transmission is a 5-speed gearbox. Braking duties are taken care by a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, there is no ABS announced and if they come up with this feature then there is nothing that can stop it to reach the apex.
It has a seat height of 800 mm, ground clearance of 220 mm which is added advantage for short riders.
This adventure motorcycle uses a 90/90/21 front tyre and a 120/90/17 rear tyre along with the wt weight of of 182 kgs while the fuel tank is 15-litres which is flanked by exposed metal braces on either side, that will hold the high-set. The side panels also look plain-Jane, and feature exposed bolts.
