Honda Shine 125 is one of the oldest Honda branded motorcycles in the country. Being here in the Indian market for more than 13 years now, Honda has already sold more than 7 Million units of CB Shine in India. In the month of July 2019 despite the market slowdown, Honda managed to move 94,559 units of CB Shine 125 motorcycles from its showrooms.

This number is more than 8000 units what the Activa maker sold in July 2018 which stood at 86,160 units. The percentage increase in Year-on-year sales is 9.75%. Not only this, the company even reported a better number than what it posted in June this year. The month of June 2019 saw 84,871 units of CB Shine making a jump of 11.41% Month-on-month sales.

With these numbers, Honda CB Shine 125 sits at the third position in the top 10 highest selling motorcycles in India. The first two being the obvious Hero Splendor and HF Deluxe bikes. But our question now is whether CB Shine 125 will hold against Bajaj Pulsar 125 which was launched recently in the Indian market? Let’s find out.

Bajaj launched Pulsar 125 in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 64,000 for the drum brake and Rs 66,600 for the disc brake variant. This came after the bikes which were above 150cc had to mandatory equipped ABS and create a gap between CBS equipped 125cc bikes and ABS-equipped 150cc bikes.

The Pulsar 125 which completely resembles Pulsar 150 in the styling department has a long queue of fans. This particular masculine design language of Pulsar is what drives its sales even after all these years. The bike gets a large tachometer coupled with a comfortably placed digital screen for all the other details including Speed, Trips, Odo, Fuel gauge, Clock, etc. CB Shine, on the other hand, gets a basic analog speedometer, odometer, trip meter, and a fuel gauge. However, the Shine SP gets a digital display to show odo and trip meters.

We expect Pulsar 125 to post good sales numbers in the coming months as youngsters who are looking for a sporty 125cc bike can now book one. Shine is basically bought by the middle-aged people in small cities to drop their kids to school and reach office on time. But Pulsar 125 is specially made for young college goes who does not want to go for a 100cc bike and want a sporty looking motorcycle.

Just wait and watch a slight decline in the sales of Honda CB Shine 125v as well as Hero Glamour 125 in the upcoming months.
