Mechanicals is where things have changed a lot. The new BS6 powerplant is same old 155cc liquid-cooled engine but now develops lesser power than before. This engine now outputs about 18.5bhp 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm torque at 8,500rpm. R15 V3 in the BS4 disguise pumped out rather high 19.1bhp and 14.7Nm twisting force. The engine continues to work with a 6-speed gearbox.

With Yamaha already launched the FZ15 and R15, next we expect the Japanese brand to launch R3 BS6 in India. After that, the company will be left with MT-15 and FZ25 twins for BS6 up-gradation. We expect some kind of price hike in the MT-15 and FZ25 bikes. However, FZ25 might not see a loss of power as its 250cc air-cooled engine already develops 20bhp which is lower than the competition.
