2019 version of BMW S1000RR can be easily made ‘race ready’ by removing rear view mirrors and rear number plate
2019 BMW S1000RR price is Rs 18.5 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The other two variants are Pro which is priced at Rs 20.95 lakh and top of the line Pro M-Sport will set you back by Rs 22.95 lakh ex-showroom. This new generation S1000RR is a completely new bike including the engine which also saw major changes.
Designwise, there is total makeover can be seen. BMW has ditched the asymmetrical front fascia to a symmetrical one with LED projector lamps with smart looking DRLs. The fairing is light and exposes the titanium exhaust system of the bike, looks raw. The instrument cluster is a 6.5-inch full-color TFT display with all the information you can think of.

Powering the beast is a 999cc in-line 4 cylinder engine which is more compact and 4 kg lighter. This engine pumps out 207bhp at 13,500rpm and 113Nm of twisting force at 11,000rpm. Cool! The power output is 8 bhp more than the 2018 model. Like the R1250 GS, new S1000RR also gets BMW’s shiftCAM technology which is basically a variable valve timing tech. 6-speed cog-box transfer power to the rear wheel, and yes, it gets two-way quick-shifter as well.
Coming to the electronic wizardry, BMW has it all, a 6-Axis IMU which controls cornering ABS, multi-level Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) system, hill start, engine brake control and what not. There are four riding modes as well Road, Rain, Dynamic, and Race. In each of the riding modes, you get precise throttle control, optimized power output, and pre-selected traction control levels.

Marzocchi USD forks up front and fully adjustable monoshock at the rear do a great job in keeping the bike stable under any circumstances. Braking department is handled by Hayes system. Yes, BMW ditched Brembos for Hayes braking system which is said to be specifically designed for racing bikes. To keep the unsprung mass in check, a new WSBK-inspired swingarm is used which is lighter than before.
The 2019 BMW S1000RR tips the scale at 197 kg which is staggering 11 kg lighter than previous generation motorcycle. There is a special M-package which will further reduce the weight to just 193.5 kg. Power-to-weight ratio of standard variant is 1050.76 bhp per ton whereas the M-package boosts it to a slightly higher level at 1069.76 bhp per ton.
In India, BMW S1000RR lock horns with Ducati Panigale V4, Yamaha R1, Honda CBR 1000RR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R, Suzuki GSX R1000, and MV Agusta F4.
