The 2019 version of Dominar saw a significant price hike of Rs 6,000, ex-showroom price stands at Rs 1.8 lakh

Bajaj launched in 2019 Dominar 400 in the month of April with a price tag of Rs 1,73,870. Shortly after the launch, the price saw a minuscule hike of about Rs 255. The bike retailed at Rs 1,74,125 ex-showroom for three months now. After the end of July 2019, Bajaj Auto significantly hiked the price of more powerful Dominar 400.

The price hike is for Rs 5,800 precisely which shot the ex-showroom price to Rs 1,80,000. Prices mentioned here are all ex-showroom, Delhi. According to the company, this hike was bound to happen as Dominar 400 was launched at an introductory price tag. It was initially priced lesser to boost sales.

As we can see the sales of Dominar 400 has picked up strong to more than 2000 units in June 2019 sales. Bajaj decided to increase the price to make some revenue out of the model. Various companies follow this technique to attract an initial lot of buyers. This model helps in delivering a greater number of products to the end-user. Following which, word-of-mouth helps in garnering more sales numbers.

If we look at the performance to price ratio, Dominar 400 still offers best in class hardware for a descent amount of money. Duke 250 which is a 250cc bike costs Rs 1.95 lakh ex-showroom and Dominar which offers more performance and touring capabilities is Rs 15,000 cheaper.

Speaking about the ride quality, Dominar 400 offers superior ride experience when compared to vibey older DOminar 400. Dominar 400 has improved suspension set up and powerful engine to start with. Powering Dominar is same 373cc engine delivering 39.5bhp and 35Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which propels it from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.2 seconds.

2019 version of Dominar 400 feels relaxed while cruising at 110-120 kmph. The vibrations are not felt while riding so one can say it is smoother than before.

Expect the company to introduce two more color options in the near future. The gloss Red and matte Silver. At present, there are two colors on offer – Aurora Green and Black.
