Benelli TRK 502 and Benelli TRK 502X share same 499.6cc engine and they would go on sale in Q1 2019
Benelli TRK 502 and Benelli TRK 502X are gearing up to launch in India in the first quarter of 2019. The manufacturer is hoping to see a bigger market share with these two adventure bikes. The TRK 502 and TRK 502X share the same 499.6cc engine. This liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine is capable of churning out 47 bhp of peak power and 45 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty will be done by a 6-speed gearbox.
The Benelli TRK 502 will compete with rivals like Kawasaki Versys-X 300, KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G310 GS and Royal Enfield Himalayan. The disadvantage for Kawasaki is the premium pricing against the upcoming Benelli adventure tourer. Expect the Benelli TRK 502 to come priced between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh. The TRK 502X will be priced around Rs 50,000 premium over the TRK 502.
The TRK 502 comes as a road-focused model. The X version is a more hardcore and off-road focused variant. The TRK 502X has been already spotted testing in India. It runs on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel, compared to the 17-inch wheels of TRK 502. Both the bikes will get different exhausts, different tyres. The X version will come with 220 mm of ground clearance and 850 mm high seat.
The Benelli TRK 502 will sport Pirelli Angel GT tyres. On the other hand, the TRK 502X will get Metzeler Tourance tyres on both ends. Braking power will come from twin 320 mm front disc brakes and a single 260 mm rear disc brake for both the models. These will be combined with ABS as standard on both the models.
The arrival of these two bikes in the Indian market will certainly take the game up for Benelli. Also, these will add more colour to the premium adventure tourer segment of the country’s motorcycle market. However, Benelli needs to focus on their after sales and dealership expansion.
