Benelli Leoncino 500 to launch in India soon but one in one road biased variant
Benelli updates the media with the news that the company is gearing up for the launch of another middleweight motorcycle in India. Benelli Leoncino 500 will be launched in the near future but only in one variant. This will be a road biased standard variant. However, in the international market, Leoncino commands three variants – Street, Trail, and Sport.
The Italian bike manufacturer which is owned by a Chinese conglomerate wanted to launch Leoncino 500 in 2018. That didn’t go well and now the TRK maker is ready for the launch. Vikas Jhabakh, MD, Benelli India, said. “At this moment, we are planning to launch only the street version. We will consider the Trail variant based on the feedback from the market”.

Powering the Leoncino 500 is a liquid-cooled, parallel twin, 499.6cc engine. This powerplant pumps out respectful 47.6bhp at 8500rpm and strong twisting force of 46Nm at 5000rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox which is responsible for power transfer. A steel-trellis frame holds everything together with rigidity.
The bike rides on 120 section front and 160 section rear tyre slapped on 17-inch alloy wheels. Braking performance comes from twin 320 mm rotors with 4-piston calipers at the front end and 260 mm disc with a single caliper at the rear.
We can easily expect the bike to carry a price tag of Rs 4.5 to Rs 5 lakh ex-showroom. This is because TRK502 lies ahead at Rs 5.1 lakh ex-showroom. The Leoncino 500 is Rs 2.4 lakh cheaper than its nearest competitor, the Ducati Scrambler Icon. Scrambler Icon is priced at Rs 7.9 lakh ex-showroom.
