2018 TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS gets equipped with Rear Wheel Lift-off Protection (RLP) system
2018 TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS: The ABS model includes a premium of Rs 8,800 within the normal model which is included with Pirelli tyres. It is also the only bicycle in the 200cc section to provide dual-channel ABS, as the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 along with the approaching Hero Xtreme 200R get single-channel ABS as an optional extra. Besides ABS, TVS has also built the bike with Back Wheel Lift-off Security (RLP) controller, in which a gyro-sensor functions in addition to the ABS method to protect against the rear-wheel from lifting under hard braking.
With the inclusion of the new version, the TVS Apache RTR 200 portfolio includes four versions, as TVS had established the fuel-injected variation in November 2017. Aside from the inclusion of ABS, no cosmetic or mechanical upgrades are created on the 200cc motorcycle. Powering the bicycle is a single-cylinder engine providing 19.7hp at 8,500rpm, together with the peak torque of 18.1Nm coming at 7,000rpm. The powerplant is mated to some five-speed gearbox.
The accession of a dual-channel ABS about the Apache RTR 200 is a welcome move, although we believe that the fuel-injected version should have obtained the security net of ABS; it’s been averted to keep prices under check.
