Bajaj finally launched the most affordable Avenger 160 street cruiser bike at a price of Rs 82,253 ex-showroom Delhi
After at least a month of speculations and spy shots, Bajaj Avenger 160 Street is now finally launched in the Indian market. Speaking about the deliveries, they have already started a few days back. The company has now revealed the official specifications of the new Avenger 160 street.
In terms of looks, the bike looks exactly similar to the older Avenger 180 with new 160 Street stickers. The graphics on the fuel tank and side panels are eye-catching. There are daytime running lights below the roundish main headlamp. The instrument cluster comprises analog speedometer with a small digital screen for an odometer and trip meters. The analog fuel gauge rests on the fuel tank.

Powering new Avenger 160 street is a modified version of Pulsar 150cc engine. This 160cc engine is not the one used in Pulsar NS 160. I repeat this engine is a newly redesigned version of Pulsar 150cc engine. The engine head has 2 valves which makes it clear that this engine is not from the Pulsar NS 160.
Bajaj Auto’s Vice President of Marketing, Narayan Sundararaman said. “As the segment leader, Bajaj Auto believes in the strategy of differentiation and category expansion. Avenger Street 160 with ABS provides contemporary styling whilst retaining its classical roadster design. The discerning customer gets a definite step-up into the world of classic biking. This will open up choices to the entry-level premium bike customers.”

The powerplant makes 14.8 bhp at 8500 rpm and 13.5 Nm torque at 7000 rpm. Clearly, the power and torque figures are less than older Avenger 180. It is also mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The power to weight ratio is less when compared to Avenger 180 but more than the Avenger 150. Power to Weight stands at 98.66 bhp per ton.
The bike is made around a double down tube frame and hugs with the help of telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear end. The braking duties are performed by 260 mm disc at the front with twin-piston caliper and 130 mm drum brake at the rear. There is a single-channel ABS system with rear wheel lift protection system. The RLP system avoids accidental stoppies during panic braking.
Bajaj Avenger 160 Street will help the company to increase sales in the cruiser segment. The new cruiser has helped Bajaj to increase the price gap to Rs 20,000 between both the cruiser segments. Recently the sale of Avenger models had fallen to new low levels but with Avenger 160 street Bajaj seemed to have upped the game.
