The new Thunderbird BS6 will have a low slung cruiser design
Till now the Indian two-wheeler market was offering Avenger and UM commando to the cruiser lovers of the subcontinent. Now there is something new and unique which is coming your way for the year 2020. The new Thunderbird BS6 has been spotted testing for the first time.
You would be rejoiced to that the riding posture of upcoming Thunderbird X BS6 is more of a cruiser than that of a regular motorcycle. The rake angle has been increased to make the Thunderbird fall in the category of Cruisers with a long wheelbase. That said, the wheelbase as clearly seen in the video below is stretched than the Thunderbird available today.
Watch the video below to check out the new motorcycle with your keen eyes.
As you can see, the rider footpegs are placed at the front end and the rider legs are open. The seats are split and the rider seat is more of a bucket shaped to provide lower back support. If you have spotted, there’s a lot of empty space between the lower down tube and the starting point of the fuel tank. This is because the frame has been stretched a bit to give it that cruiser look.

The fuel tank itself is redesigned into a teardrop shape which looks cool. The chain drive is now on the left side and disc on the right side as the rest of the bikes. Cannot say about it much, but I didn’t like that exhaust muffler, it’s outright boring. The bike is riding on alloy wheels with 130 or maybe 140 section rear tyre. Whereas the front tyre seems to be 90 cross section.
Speaking about the features, the bike will have BS6 compliant engine. BS6 norms will be achieved by using EFI, O2 sensor, and a larger catalytic converter. Please do not expect Royal Enfield to increase engine power. The 350cc variant will make 19.8bhp and 500cc variant will pump out 27bhp with 28Nm and 41Nm torque. Gearbox will also remain same at 5-speed unit. Expect a new layout for instrument cluster though.

Speaking about the price, expect it to see a hike of around Rs 15,000 over presently available models.
