Suzuki Katana has been one of the most hyped sportsbikes that pays tribute to the original model from 1981.
Suzuki Katana can be christened as one of the most hyped and most awaited sportsbikes ever made by the Japanese brand and it has been finally unveiled at the 2018 Intermot. As expected, the bike comes paying tribute to the original model from 1981. The new Suzuki Katana shares its chassis with the Suzuki GSX-S1000 naked bike. The bike carries several design elements from the original model. The bike will go on sale in early 2019 and we can expect it to reach Indian shores sometime by the end of next year.
Speaking about the new Suzuki Katana, it stays true to the Katana Concept, which was showcased last year. Meanwhile, despite being loyal to the legendary original model’s design, the all-new Suzuki Katana gets several advanced hi-end design elements and features as well that make it a modern –day premium sportsbike. It features rectangular LED headlamp, sharp front fairing, a fully digital LCD instrument cluster sourced from the GSX-R1000R. Apart from that, the floating tail section, 12-litre fuel tank are the other elements available in this model.
As Suzuki believes, the new model is expected to see impressive number of sales in coming days with its iconic design inspired by the original model. For energy source, the Suzuki Katana uses the same 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine that works in the GSX-S1000R. This engine ios capable of churning out around 148 bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 108 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm. Power is delivered through a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
Among other specifications, the Suzuki Katana is based on a twin-spar aluminium alloy frame giving the bike fine ride quality. For suspension duty, it gets 43 mm USD front forks and link-type adjustable monoshock absorber at back. Stopping power comes from Brembo brakes and dual-channel ABS.
