BMW R 1250 R is priced at Rs 15.95 lakh and R 1250 RT at Rs 22.50 lakh
German motorcycle manufacturer, BMW Motorrad launched two new motorcycles with 1250cc boxer engine in the country. BMW R 1250 R is a boxer naked bike which is priced at Rs 15.95 lakh ex-showroom. The BMW R 1250 RT is a luxurious Touring motorcycle again with the same 1250cc boxer engine. The RT will set you back by Rs 22.50 lakh ex-showroom.
Powering the newly launched motorcycles is a 1254cc two-cylinder boxer engine with Shift cam technology. This powerplant develops 134bhp at 7750rpm and 143Nm at 6250rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and a shaft drives the rear wheel. Shift cam technology changes the valve lift depending upon the driving conditions to ensure better power delivery and fuel efficiency.
BMW R 1250 R is available in two color options – Pollux Metallic Matt and Black Storm Metallic. R 1250 RT has two color options to choose from – Blue Planet Metallic and Sparkling storm metallic.
While the 1250 R has a 6.5-inch full-color TFT display, the 1250 RT comes with analog speedometer and tachometer along with a 5.7-inch TFT display for all other stuff. Bluetooth connectivity and navigation comes handy for long-distance touring and entertainment via the BMW Motorrad mobile app.

Speaking about the safety, the bikes have two riding modes, standard Automatic Stability System (ASC), ABS Pro (includes cornering ABS) as well as Hill-start control for convenient riding on the slopes.
The BMW R 1250 R will rival the Kawasaki Z1000 (Rs 15.10 lakh) and MV Agusta Brutale 800 (Rs 15.60 lakh) in the price range. BMW R 1250 RT, on the other hand, will rival Kawasaki Ninja ZX14R (Rs 19.70 lakh) which is about Rs 2.7 lakh cheaper and Kawasaki H2 SX (Rs 21.80 lakh), the supercharged tourer.
