Royal Enfield Classic 350S launched for Rs 1.45 lakh, cheaper variant of Classic 350

Royal Enfield Classic 350S launched for Rs 1.45 lakh, gets blacked-out engine and single-channel ABS

Chennai based classic motorcycle manufacturer has launched a cheaper variant of regular Classic 350 motorcycle. The new Royal Enfield Classic 350S is now available for Rs 1.45 lakh. On the other hand, the regular Classic 350 comes with a price tag of Rs 1.54 lakh ex-showroom. All these prices are ex-showroom, Chennai.

The changes made to the new Classic 350S is that it gets a blacked-out engine and a single-channel ABS. This has helped the company to reduce its pricing by Rs 9,000. The original Classic 350 has an engine block which is chrome plated (expensive procedure) as well as a dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. However, if you are aware of braking procedure on motorcycles, you can easily do away with a single-channel unit.

Powering the new more affordable Classic 350S is same old air-cooled 350cc engine with 2-valve head. This powerplant makes miserably low 19.8bhp and respectable 28Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. Main problem with the Royal Enfield Classic 350S is high kerb weight of 187kg and this causes sluggish initial acceleration.

All-new Royal Enfield 350S is available only in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and nationwide availability is expected in a couple of weeks. The company already launched cheaper variants of its Bullet 350 series bikes.

In the present scenario of low sales and economic slowdown, the Bullet maker is trying hard to do things right to get some numbers this month. The Government has promised to infuse fresh funds into the ailing economy which is expected to give a required boost. As everyone is looking forward to a positive festive season, manufacturers are launching fresh products to lure customers to the showrooms.

Akash Vashisth: See, there are a lot of things to look at, but you are one hell of a person when your eyes are pulled towards beauty on two wheels. This guy here is one such animal who loves two wheels more than "Maa ke hath ka Khana." Not yet fully transformed into a seasoned rider but still, there are many things still "under construction." Akash is a writer, loves writing fiction but here at motorcycle diaries, its all about the world on two wheels.
