50000 kms and £25,000 and Aaron Mitchell’s biking tour is completed after 500 days. Might not look like a big deal considering Wright brother’s invention but here’s the tricky part, this man did this enormous feat riding on his bike. Yes, you heard that right, on his Suzuki DRZ400s.

Things were not all bright for the ex-military person as he had a breakup after he came back home from his last tour but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise and that’s what sparked the idea of this epic journey.

‘Well what’s stopping me, maybe it will help me to get my life back on track’. These words and he was all good to go around the world.

All the funding for the trip was single handly done by him through some good old-fashioned working and saving the pennies. But that was not all, such was his passion for biking that he also sold his household possessions, his car and even quit his job to take on this adventure which began in April last year.

After looking at the map a few thousand times, he started his journey from France and decided to ride all the way to the eastern side of Russia crossing many countries along the route, he then shipped his bike over to Canada. From there he followed the west coast all the way South and into Central America. Next up he was sailing across the Caribbean Sea into Colombia and carrying on down south to Santiago in Chile.

When it was winter time he made the decision to push east and ship out of Buenos Aires in Argentina to Europe and ultimately return back home to England.  The trip took 505 days and he visited 29 countries across 4 continents. Aaron Mitchell.

”Columbia is the best country in the world’’ was his answer when asked about which country he loved the most. “It is just incredible, it is only just being touched by tourism so it is still so genuine and fresh.

”I have never been to a country that is full of people who are so incredibly happy, people need to see it while it is still in its real element.”

There were some mechanical faults along the way but those couldn’t demoralise him.

”All these experiences at the time were so frustrating, but now I realise how great they were”

”I have lived and learnt a lot along the way.”

At the end of the day, he will remain as a role model to all aspiring riders. Aaron Mitchell’s biking tour will encourage young bike enthusiasts to take up such challenges and this is what he has to say, ”Don’t compare yourself to others. This will always give you the wrong impression of your own qualities and talents. If you have an idea go for it. You know in your mind what you’re capable of and trust me, it’s always that little bit more than you think.”
