Yamaha NMax 155 premium scooter India launch in 2019?

Yamaha is focusing on 150cc premium scooter segment instead of highly in demand 125cc category.

Yamaha is planning to focus on 150cc premium scooter segment in India. The Japanese brand could roll out the NMax 155 in India next year. The two-wheeler manufacturer has been inspired by other brands that have invested heavily in the 125cc category and tasted success. However, Yamaha wants to take the game one step up and bring an 150cc model.

Upon arrival, the Yamaha NMax 155 will compete with rivals like Aprilia SR 150 and Vespa models. In recent past, it has been seen the Indian customers are looking for more premium scoters loaded with upmarket features. This is the reason why TVS, Hero, Honda – all the brands are focusing on premium category. In India, maxi scooters are not something available yet, but people have pretty good interest about them.

This is one reason, Yamaha wants to bring the NMax 155. It gets a typical maxi-scooter look and thanks to the layered design, NMax 155 comes very appealing. It gets LED lights, digital display at instrument cluster, disc brakes at both front and rear wheels etc.

Speaking about the power source of Yamaha NMax 155, the scooter gets energy from a 155cc liquid-cooled four-valve engine that is capable of kicking out 14.59 bhp of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 14.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. This makes the NMax 155 more powerful compared to the TVS Ntorq.
