Triumph Rocket 3 is here for Rs 18 lakh

With 221Nm of torque, the Triumph Rocket 3 is the torquiest motorcycle in the world

Triumph India has launched yet another motorcycle in India. This time, it is the one with the largest engine capacity available on a production motorcycle. The Triumph Rocket 3 has been launched with a price tag of Rs 18 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. This time the bike sees a price reduction of Rs 2 lakh because now the motorcycle will be imported from Thailand which benefits from Free Trade Agreement.

In the international markets, Triumph Rocket 3 is available in two variants – R and GT but in India, only the R model is launched as of now. The company was quick to launch the new 2020 model in the Indian market. We can expect that Triumph will soon come up with new Tiger 900 range for India.

Powering the new Rocket 3 is 2500cc three-cylinder engine which is heavily reworked to generate 165 horsepower and massive 221 Newton-metres of twisting force. With all that torque in hand, you can even pull a truck with the Rocket 3. The engine is mated to a new six-speed transmission which is connected via a hydraulically actuated clutch with torque-assist for a lighter pull at the lever. Power is sent to the rear tyre via shaft drive unit.

What makes this engine one hell of an engineering marvel is that this massive engine now weighs less by about 18 kilos. Yeah, that’s right, whole 18 kilos are shaved off from the engine by developing a new crankcase, lubrication system and balancer shaft. Not only this but the rocket now has kerb weight about 40 kg lesser than the previous iteration.

Triumph Rocket 3 GT gets touring touchups like pillion back seat, visor, and lower seat height.

The bike is suspended by fully adjustable 47mm Showa USD forks at the front and Showa piggyback monoshock with remote preload adjuster at the rear end. Braking department is taken care of by 4-piston Brembo Stylema Monobloc callipers biting on twin 320mm discs at the front end. A 300mm disc with Brembo 4.32 4-piston monoblock calliper does the job at the rear. The front wheel is 17-inch with 150/80 section tyre while the rear is a 16-inch unit wrapped with a fat 240/50 section tyre.

Akash Vashisth: See, there are a lot of things to look at, but you are one hell of a person when your eyes are pulled towards beauty on two wheels. This guy here is one such animal who loves two wheels more than "Maa ke hath ka Khana." Not yet fully transformed into a seasoned rider but still, there are many things still "under construction." Akash is a writer, loves writing fiction but here at motorcycle diaries, its all about the world on two wheels.
