After Ducati, its Triumph Electric Bikes to come next

Triumph Electric Bikes will come out in next two years

The British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has partnered with other industry experts to develop electric motorcycles. Triumph Electric bikes are expected to come out by the end of 2021. The company has partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering, Integral Powertrains Ltd’s e-drive division and WMG (University of Warwick).

Triumph Electric bikes project also received assistance from Innovate UK which is a government agency in the United Kingdom. The company is calling this project as Triumph TE-1, and it will be a two-year Research & Development exercise. In this time frame Triumph and its partners will develop all the important components for electric motorcycles.

Furthermore, Triumph is taking a different approach in the development of electric bikes. The company will develop individual components and then integrate them into one final product. This will help them use a particular component into other platforms which they intend to develop in the future. This way, there will be freedom to push the boundaries of electric powertrain potential which is in its early stages.

Triumph is the latest manufacturer to step into electric motorcycles

Like all other manufacturers, Triumph will also focus its research & development in four main parts. These are Electric Motor, Battery pack, Chassis, and electronics. Triumph and team will have a different vision to make these components work seamlessly with each other.

Triumph will provide support for chassis design, suspension system, braking components as well as manufacturing. Williams Advanced Engineering will use their experience from Formula E to develop high capacity battery technology. On the other hand, Integral powertrains will develop the electric motor and WMG will provide support for electrical technology and model simulations.

Finally, the government agency Innovate UK will provide the most important part, funds. United Kingdom provides funding under BIES modern funding strategy for the development of electric vehicles.

Triumph seems to be late to the electric bikes party. But there are still many manufacturers who haven’t thought of it yet. The innovative model of Triumph is focusing on the future instead of present and that’s going to cover the delayed entry.

Akash Vashisth: See, there are a lot of things to look at, but you are one hell of a person when your eyes are pulled towards beauty on two wheels. This guy here is one such animal who loves two wheels more than "Maa ke hath ka Khana." Not yet fully transformed into a seasoned rider but still, there are many things still "under construction." Akash is a writer, loves writing fiction but here at motorcycle diaries, its all about the world on two wheels.
