KTM Duke 125 receives second price hike since its launch in December 2018. The price now stands at Rs 1.3 lakh ex-showroom
KTM Duke 125 was launched in December 2018 with an attractive price tag of Rs 1.18 lakh ex-showroom. However, this price was introductory, so the company increased the price of baby Duke by Rs around 7000 to Rs 1.25 lakh. Two months after the first hike, KTM hiked the price of Duke 125 again by Rs 5000. The latest price of Duke 125 now stands at Rs 1.3 lakh ex-showroom.
Looking at this new price tag, it is utterly pointless for anyone to buy such an underpowered bike for such a high amount. You can go for Pulsar NS 200 or Apache 200 4V for under 1.15 lakh ex-showroom price. There is another striking option you can choose from, the Yamaha FZ25 ABS which is priced at Rs 1.33 lakh ex-showroom makes more sense than ever before.

Yamaha MT-15 is also a sensible option at its price of Rs 1.36 lakh ex-showroom. MT-15 itself is an overpriced motorcycle when compared to Yamaha R15-V3.0 sports bike. Here, it is a better idea to go for a 250cc motorcycle which has oodles of torque to those urban rides.
However, KTM Duke 125 is the most powerful 125cc bike in India but this argument is not enough to buy it. Powering Duke 125 is a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve engine. This engine pumps out 14.3 bhp and 12 Nm torque. These numbers are good enough to tackle 150-160cc bikes but not enough to justify a price tag of Rs 1.3 lakh ex-showroom.
Only the sales numbers for the month of June 2019 will tell the real world story of Duke 125. The cheapest Duke sold only 2199 units in the month of April 2019 whereas MT-15 sold 3823 units and FZ25 clocked 989 units in the same time period.
