Yamaha FZ25 has been received well by the Indians at least sales figures say so. For just Rs 1.33 Lakh ex-showroom FZ25 is the cheapest 250 cc motorcycle with dual-Channel ABS available in the country. One can argue that Yamaha FZ25 is low on tech, such as the engine is air & oil-cooled, low power output, 5-speed gearbox, and small instrument console. But this actually helped Yamaha to price the bike at an attractive price.

Suzuki, the only company missing in 200-300 cc bike segment (Hero has Xtreme 200 and Karizma 223 cc), is gearing up to launch a Gixxer 250 in the Indian market. The motorcycle will be a single cylinder air cooled motorcycle which will take on Yamaha FZ25 and KTM Duke 200. The Oil-cooling tech is better at keeping the engine cooler than a simple air-cooling and is also cheaper than a full-fledged liquid cooled engine. Thus Air and oil-cooled Engine will help Suzuki to keep the price competitive.

The engine output figures, however, will most probably be higher than FZ25. Power of 23-24 bhp and 22 Nm torque will help bike to perform better than FZ25. In terms of weight, the Gixxer 250 must weigh less than 150 Kg to stand in the competition.

According to some rumors, Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be launched in March 2019. New sources say that Gixxer 250 will be launched in India in June 2019 and will look like DR 300 from China.

DR 300 is actually a rebadged version of Suzuki GSX 300 for the Chinese market. DR 300 uses a 300 cc liquid-cooled, double cylinder engine whereas Indian version will be bare basic air & oil-cooled, single cylinder. The digital instrument console might be carried forwards but will definitely miss on USD forks to keep the price lower.

Features and equipment on Gixxer 250 include LED headlight, Dual-Channel ABS, Full digital Console. MRF tyres will do the rolling duties in Indian spec version. Conventional telescopic forks and rear Monoshock will take care of the bumps and potholes.

Expected price of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be anywhere about Rs 1.35 Lakh to Rs 1.4 Lakh. The price might go beyond Rs 1.5 Lakh mark if Suzuki decides to keep Liquid-cooling tech on the Gixxer 250.
