2018 Kawasaki Versys 650 gets a revised, sportier paint scheme

2018 Kawasaki Versys 650: Kawasaki’s annual ritual of updates has now extended itself to the Versys 650, with the company launching the 2018 model in India at Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The visual update to the experience tourer is a sportier lime green and black dual-tone paint scheme while the company states that the bike has obtained some updates that are mechanical also.

As per Kawasaki, the upgrades in Versys 650 include sporty 17-inch wheels and long-travel suspension, making it a much machine. What’s more, it receives a gear position indicator and windscreen with just two inches of adjustment that is tool-free too, which will add additional comfort for street cruising.

Commenting on the launch, Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of IKM, says, “Kawasaki’s Versys 650 is a core machine at the mid-capacity industry, that has been in constant demand in European market ever since it premiered in 2006. In India, it’s started gaining attention in the past few years with an elevated variety of seasoned passengers”

“For Versys 650, India is the perfect country mainly because of its diversities in streets” he added.

In the core of the Kawasaki Versys 650 is the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine which also powers the Ninja 650 as well as the Z650. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the engine makes a torque of 64Nm and 69PS at 8,500 rpm at 7,000rpm. Braking duties are handled by dual 300mm front along with a 250mm rear petal disc brakes, which also gets help from a double channel antilock braking system (ABS) for safe braking.
